Region Gotland has a unique organisational structure where municipality and county are merged, meaning one organisation is responsible for both municipal services and healthcare. Visby Hospital is the island's only hospital. Despite its geographical location, Gotland offers a broad range of services including schools, healthcare, social services and culture. Campus Gotland, part of Uppsala University, strengthens the island's educational offering.

Gotland invests in broadband expansion, port development and sustainable growth. Fibre-optic broadband reaches 88 per cent of households and the port is being developed to accommodate larger cruise ships. The region works to balance growth and preservation, developing conditions for year-round activity in tourism, technology and education.
